Kalibo, Aklan – The Aklan Agri-Aqua Demonstration Farm and Training Center (AAADFTC) continues to strengthen its aquaculture initiatives with the successful stocking of 270 sub-adult breeders of UPV-SPIN tilapia into Concrete Pond 4.
Led by Dr. Rex Ferdinand Traifalgar and his team, this latest development was made possible through the support of the Aklan Provincial Freshwater Aquaculture Facility staff. The addition of these breeders is expected to enhance tilapia fry production, ensuring a sustainable supply for the province’s growing aquaculture sector.

This initiative highlights the ongoing collaboration between the Provincial Government of Aklan and the UP-Visayas Institute of Aquaculture. Their partnership continues to play a crucial role in advancing local aquaculture practices and improving food security in the region.
"We are grateful to UP-Visayas for their continued support in helping us develop Aklan’s aquaculture industry," said representatives from the AAADFTC. "This milestone strengthens our commitment to ensuring food sustainability for Akeanons."
With this latest batch of breeders, the AAADFTC moves forward in its mission to promote sustainable fisheries, create livelihood opportunities, and contribute to the success of the Pagkaing Sapat Para sa Lahat, Aklan Aangat program.
